Biography: 
Doris Toe Hooi Chyee is a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Built Environment and Surveying and a Member of the Disaster Preparedness and Prevention Centre, Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. She holds a Doctor of Engineering degree specializing in Development Science from the Graduate School for International Development and Cooperation (IDEC) at Hiroshima University. She received her M.Arch., B.Arch. and Dip.Arch. degrees from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. She is a registered Graduate Architect under the Board of Architects Malaysia, a Registered Conservator with the Department of National Heritage, Malaysia and a Professional Technologist in the field of Green Technology under the Malaysia Board of Technologists. She was recipient of The Hitachi Scholarship from The Hitachi Scholarship Foundation in 2010-2013, the 2012 Hiroshima University Excellent Student Scholarship, and the Best Paper Award at the 28th International PLEA Conference on Sustainable Architecture + Urban Design. She actively engages in research, publications, postgraduate supervision, and local and international collaboration. Her research is multidisciplinary in the fields of low-energy architecture, environmental engineering, heritage and conservation, urban studies, construction project management, and disaster risks and fire safety in buildings.
